You can either download as an Excel, or copy our Google Sheet template (if you have a Google account).
If you do copy from Google Sheets, make sure to export as an xlsx file before uploading to Talamo!
Add your students
Three things to know before you start:
Fields marked red in the template are required; fields marked grey are optional
Where there's a dropdown, pick from the list rather than typing your own answer
Delete the example student (sorry, Jane or John Doe) before you upload
Required fields
Surname and First names
Date of birth: in the format DD/MM/YYYY so…

Year group: Year 2 up to Year 12, from the dropdown. This updates automatically each school year
Optional fields
These are optional, but worth filling in where you can. The more context we have, the more accurate and useful the reports.
Gender
Form: their class or tutor group. Handy later for finding a class at a glance
EAL status: whether the student has English as an additional language
Dyslexia status, Dyscalculia status and ADHD status: Diagnosed, Suspected, None, or Don't know.
Ability ratings: Academic, Reading, Spelling, Maths and Processing speed, each rated 1 to 5 (1 = well below average, 3 = average, 5 = well above average, see chart below). This is your judgement as the adult who knows the student
Other conditions: free text for anything else we should know about
Upload to Talamo
Go to Students, click Add students, click Bulk, and drag your .xlsx file in.
Done! 🙌 Your students will appear in the Students list, each with their own Login ID.
Only adding one or two? You can also add students individually from the Students page, no spreadsheet needed.
