How a session is run affects the results. These guidelines cover the setup we recommend, so that results reflect each student's real abilities. They apply to all three tests: Cognitive & Dyslexia, Maths & Dyscalculia and Executive Function.
Planning the session
Allow about an hour per test. Most students finish in 35 to 45 minutes, but older students and those who need more time can take longer.
One test per sitting. If a student has more than one test assigned, run them on different days rather than back to back; fatigue affects results.
Mornings are best, earlier in the week if you can, when students are most able to concentrate.
Running out of time is fine. A student who doesn't finish can log back in later and carry on where they left off.
Setting up the room
Sit students at least 1.5 metres apart, and separate friends
Keep it exam-quiet: the tests need concentration
Every student needs headphones, as the activities use audio instructions
Devices
Chrome works best; Edge, Firefox and Safari are fine too
Desktops, laptops and Chromebooks are ideal
iPads work, but need a keyboard attached for the typing activities
Supporting students
Younger students, or anyone new to a keyboard and mouse, benefit from a teaching assistant nearby
Helping with the device is fine; helping with answers isn't, as it skews the results
Keep an eye out for anxiety. It can help to remind students that this isn't a test they can pass or fail
If something goes wrong
If a student loses connection or gets stuck, refresh the page. If that doesn't work, click the exit button and the current activity will restart from the beginning, with everything before it safely saved.

After the test
Results appear in Results within 48 hours. If anything looks off, whether that's a result that doesn't match the student you know or a session you think went wrong you can email us and we can investigate.
Why we ask background questions
When you add students, we ask for things like reported conditions and your ratings of their ability. This context makes the results more accurate, and it helps everyone spot the interesting cases: when the screening says something different from what the adults expected, that's exactly where a closer look pays off.
